BROWN BAG APPLE PIE

We all know it’s fall but, lucky for us it’s also Apple Season! With all those Apples, at such great prices, you need to make something delicious, so here is the easiest and best apple pie recipe!

To start you need to get,

1 unbaked pie crust, my favorite are from Trader Joe’s, if you don’t have one near you, any unbaked pie crust will do!

½ c granulated sugar

2 Tbsps all purpose flour

½ tsp cinnamon

1 Tbsp lemon juice

3-4 medium apples thinly sliced, for a more tart pie, use Granny Smith apples, for a sweeter taste you a honey crisp apple and for a very soft and sweet taste use golden delicious apples!

For the topping, you will need

½ tsp sugar

1 stick of butter, softened

½ cup of all purpose flour

Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees. Core and thinly slice your apples and mix with the first 4 ingredients, sugar, flour, cinnamon and lemon juice. Once combined add to your unbaked pie crust. Next, for the topping, you will need to first combine your sugar and flour, you will then cut in your butter (that basically means to cut your butter into small pieces and combine it all together). Finally, sprinkle your topping on the pie.

Now for the most important step to really make this apple pie stand out, put your pie in a brown bag and staple it shut. You can put it on a baking sheet and it will be easier to use, the brown bag will not catch on fire but it will scorch a little. For the best safety put the bag on the lowest rack. You then will cook for 1 hour. Once completed, serve with vanilla bean ice cream or whipped topping!

I hope you all enjoy this super easy apple pie recipe!

Have a happy fall!
